FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
What it is
- What is Blind Read?
- Blind Read gives you a recruiter-style read of your resume: the level you come across as, set against the level you're targeting, the exact lines that put you there, and the three fixes most likely to change it. It's built for experienced professionals who are applying and not hearing back.
- Who is it for?
- Experienced professionals in an active search, from individual contributors to senior leaders, who want to know how their resume reads before they rewrite it or apply more widely. It's calibrated to US hiring norms and currently available in the US and Canada.
- Is it useful for senior and executive candidates?
- Yes. The read places you on a level ladder and judges each level you're targeting separately, which is where senior resumes most often fall short: a senior title over bullets that read a rung lower.
- Can I use it for a career change?
- Yes. The read tells you what function and level you read as today, which is the starting point for any pivot. It's honest about gaps, so if a target role needs something your resume doesn't show, it will say so.
How it compares
- Is Blind Read an ATS checker?
- No. An ATS checker tells you whether software can parse your resume and match keywords. Blind Read tells you what a person concludes when they read it: your level, your function, your story, and what makes them hesitate.
- Does Blind Read rewrite my resume?
- No. It tells you how your resume reads and which lines to change, and each fix says what to do if you have the evidence and what to do if you don't. You make the changes in your own voice.
- How is it different from asking ChatGPT?
- A general chatbot can give useful feedback, but it tends to be encouraging, its answer depends on how you ask, and it rarely commits to a level. Blind Read reads every resume against the same fixed recruiter rubric, places you at a level, and ties each judgment to the line on your resume that caused it.
- How is it different from a resume writer or career coach?
- A writer or coach helps you change your resume and your search. Blind Read gives you the outside read first, so you know what to change. Many people use both, and a read is a useful thing to bring to a coach.
What you get
- What's in a read?
- A 30-second verdict in a screener's voice, your level against the levels you're targeting, a one-sentence version of your career story, six dimensions (function, level, scope, trajectory, accomplishment quality and hesitation triggers) each backed by your own lines, and your top three fixes. You can see a complete example at blindread.com/example.
- What does "the level my resume reads at" mean?
- It's the level a careful stranger would place you at from the page alone, based on scope, ownership, decisions and results rather than your title. It's often different from your title, in either direction.
- Can Blind Read tell me why recruiters aren't responding?
- It tells you how your resume is likely to be read and what would make a screener hesitate, which is the most common fixable cause. It can't see the market, the other applicants or a specific recruiter's decision, so it won't claim to know the single reason for any one rejection.
- Does it guarantee interviews?
- No. Nothing honest can. It shows you what your resume is communicating so you can decide what to change and where to aim.
- Can I re-run it after I make changes?
- Yes. Every read includes one re-read within 30 days. The re-read is done fresh, as if new, and then compared against your first read so you can see what moved.
Price, privacy and practicalities
- How much does it cost?
- $39 per read, including one re-read within 30 days. If you're not happy, there's a 7-day refund.
- How long does it take?
- About a minute. You upload a PDF or Word file, or paste the text, check what we pulled out of it, and the read comes back on screen. No account needed.
- What happens to my resume?
- Your read lives at a private link that we email to you. Everything is deleted automatically after 60 days, or sooner if you delete it with your link. The AI provider that produces the read doesn't use your resume to train models, and neither do we. The privacy policy has the details.
- Does a person read my resume?
- No. The read is produced by an AI model working to a fixed recruiter rubric. Nobody at Blind Read looks at your resume or read unless you send it to us.
- Is it available outside the US?
- Blind Read is available in the US and Canada. It's calibrated to North American resume conventions and recruiter norms, so we don't offer it elsewhere yet.
